bill karins has details for us. bill, what can you tell us? >> as far as the snow goes, that's at the highest of elevations where no one lives. the only areas that will get the snow is possibly to the south in the central cascades. it's really the rainfall that's the big concern, the amount that's going to go into these rivers basins. as they accumulate and it continues to rain over the weekend, we're going to have flooding concerns. this morning we're soaked right now. the heaviest rains have shifted into the mountains. it's still raining pretty good. san francisco to san jose, a continuous steady rain out there. the real downpours have moved towards yuba city. this storm system is one piece of it. you can see the plume coming into california. there's another piece behind that has to kick through on saturday. it doesn't look like until monday, lynn, this area will have a dry day. major concerns especially in northern california at this point. >> bill, thanks so much. >>> elsewhere today, the first of the two grand prize powerball winners will come forward to reveal themselve

out of the sky in israel as defense forces use an every growing target list to halt days of rocket attacks. welcome to "america live." i'm megyn kelly. the terrorist group hamas signaling in negotiations today that it will not compromise and if israel wants the rocket attacks to stop it must give in to the group's demands. we just got this video a couple of hours ago. one of our first looks at the rockets as they are launched at the israelis. overnight a barrage of rockets hit at least one home and a school, fortunately that school was closed at the time. the home had been evacuated. israeli defense forces have been attacking a series of military targets. here israeli missiles hit the headquarters of palestinian security forces in gaza city. since the israeli defense operation bee gone more than 1100 rockets have been fired at the jewish state and israel's iron dome missile defense system has interest tere septembered 324 of them. they have attacked 1300 targets inside gaza a and yet there are reports of civilian casualties. leland vittert is in the danger zone along the bordered.

last night. ktvu's alex savidge joins us live to explain what caused the victim to go out in the dark. >> reporter: good morning. this man's body was recovered. it's believed he drowned. firefighters say he went out in the rain last night trying to find his lost cat and he ended up falling off this sleep cliff behind his house and he landed in the water. this is a water-filled rock quarry right below his home here. this is next to the rockridge shopping center. the oakland fire department launched a search around 7:00 last night after the man's friend reported him missing. rescuers used a boat. one rescue worker rappelled down the cliff. just before 1:00 this morning, they found the man's body about 30 feet under water. one of the drivers involved in this recovery operation explain how they locate a body in dark, murky water like this. >> we use a circle search where we set an anchor at the bottom and a buoy at the top. we have drivers stationed on the bottom and another diver that circles that anchor searching for our target. >> reporter: so far, authorities are not releasing the ide

the scene for us this morning and how important mr. morsi is in the solution we see here. >> reporter: yeah, christine, this is another critical day in this conflict. a lot of people anxious to see what happens in the coming hours. it's a little after 12:00 noon cairo time and in a couple of hours secretary clinton is scheduled to arrive in cairo meeting with the egyptian president mohammad morsi as well as the arab league. whenever big conflicts happen in the middle east, washington wants to be seen as playing a major role as peacemaker. that is clearly why mrs. clinton is in the region today, but it is also clear that throughout the past few days it's been egypt that's taking the lead as peacemaker. obviously, they have strong links to hamas and they also have links with israel with that peace treaty they have promised to abide by. so they seem to be logical peacemaker. yesterday they were optimistic that a cease-fire would be established. mr. morsi says he expects the aggression to stop. obviously, christine, that didn't happen. heavy fighting throughout the night and the early morning h
